Abstract

【課題】イオン液体を用いた、少なくとも2つ以上の電極を用いた電気化学素子を構成するに当って、高効率で酸素を生成する系を提供する。 【解決手段】水に難溶なる性質を有するイオン液体を電解質とし、該イオン液体を含浸した多孔質膜からなるセパレータと、該セパレータに接して設けられた気体拡散型の還元極および酸化極を備えた電気化学素子であり、還元極側に酸素を含有する気体の供給手段を備え、該還元極において供給気体中の酸素を一電子還元し活性酸素を生成すると共に、酸化極において該活性酸素を酸化し高濃度の酸素を生成し、該酸化極側に気体収集手段を備えた電気化学的酸素発生素子。 【選択図】図1
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which generates oxygen with high efficiency by constituting an electrochemical element using an ionic liquid and at least two electrodes. SOLUTION: The electrochemical element for generating oxygen is an electrochemical element which is provided with a separator that is formed of a porous membrane impregnated with an ionic liquid that has poorly water-soluble characteristics and is used as an electrolyte, and a reduction electrode and an oxidation electrode both of a gas diffusion type, which are arranged so as to come into contact with the separator; and has a means of supplying an oxygen-containing gas in a reduction electrode side. The reduction electrode produces active oxygen by reducing the oxygen existing in the supplied gas by one electron, and simultaneously the oxidation electrode produces a high concentration of oxygen by oxidizing the active oxygen.
